I’m coming to you today with BIG faith. I believe that we can be history makers! I believe you can and will make a difference! Let me explain.
There is a rumbling in this world. Everything feels off-kilter.
So you can imagine my shock when I read in Matthew 21:20-22 “Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt… you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. 22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”” Wow!
I suspect that Jesus wasn’t all that interested in throwing mountains into the sea, but he wants his disciples to know the power of prayer. He wants his followers to know that they can make a difference. An earth shifting difference!
Still sounds good but hard to believe, right? You may want to roll your eyes and say Jesus was only speaking a hyperbole, an exaggeration. Does prayer really make a difference? Or you may be whispering in your mind, “Yeah, prayer works but the mountain only moves a pebble at a time… Quicker to do it myself.” Or you may downright deny the promise because you know a friend who prayed her heart out in faith but they still buried their sick child. And what about you? Have you ever prayed your heart out and felt … powerless?
We understand there is pain in life. And I don’t want you to feel like you lacked faith if a Tsunami wave has hit your life and destroyed everything. But I want us to grow in prayer. So let’s acknowledge where we are at, and grow more into the confidence of prayer like Jesus. Your prayer experiences or your friend’s prayer experiences are not the end of the story.
The Bible gives some practical advise of how to grow in this sort of mountain shifting faith. One point: Don’t focus on the Mountain
Faith comes by looking at God, the Mountain Mover, not the mountain, the problem. Memorize these 6 words. “With God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)
You can choose to be a fatalist and complain about the problems in life, or you can make a difference and see large obstacles move through faith in God. When we give up hope and faith in God we give up everything! Don’t go there!
“With God all things are possible.” God is ready to use you. And when you focus on God instead of your mountain, he channels through you grace and power.
Probably everyone has a mountain that casts a large shadow over them. A bad habit, a character flaw, an impossible marriage, a work situation, a financial problem, a health issue, or a church problem. I wonder, is your mountain moveable? Do you believe God can really make a difference?
No need to describe your mountain. Describe our God who is full of glory, majesty and power and faithfulness. Walk in faith and watch your mountain move as Lindsay is transformed! We cannot do this without you! Be a person of mountain moving prayer! Nothing is impossible! Amen?
